Overview
Greenhouse gases and climate change – the result of their excess in the atmosphere, among other causes – respect no borders, as do airborne diseases, which somehow find a way past the most stringent of checks, as evidenced during the harrowing days of the COVID-19 pandemic. We live in globalisation in more ways than one. And so it falls upon each and every one of us to be part of a collective responsibility in building our cities on the platforms of socio-economic and sustainable development.
The two targets embody the spirit of the Climate Control Awards. They encompass the multitude of disciplines that go into building our residential, commercial and industrial spaces, and conditioning the air in them for a diversity of purposes. The disciplines are the various awards categories my team and I have so carefully drafted to facilitate your willingness to evaluate yourself against the best.
And so yes, the Climate Control Awards is a competition leading to an iconic trophy, and yet it serves a higher purpose – to inspire a raising of the HVACR bar to lift the quality of life. The Awards exercise is not merely about winning a trophy and staking the claim for technological or business superiority; instead, it is an instigator of the pursuit of excellence and, through that, elevating the standards of an entire industry.
The milestone 15th Edition marks a change in the nature of the exercise. For one, my team and I have introduced more categories, splitting the ‘manufacturer/supplier’ into individual manufacturer and supplier categories to meet the so-called need for an apples-to-apples comparison. For 14 editions, the judges ensured that only apples were compared to apples – even awarding joint winners – but we live in the age of optics and the visibly apparent, and hence the bifurcation.
The other change is in the very KPIs of the manufacturer and supplier categories.
What has not changed, though, is the instruction manual to the judges, which insists on stringency. As in the past, my team and I have gathered a set of judges who abide by strictness and integrity and are earnest about ensuring the very best of businesses and individuals are recognised – to serve as shining examples of the way forward for the HVACR and allied industries.
On behalf of my team at CPI Industry, I do hope you appreciate the thought processes that underpin the Climate Control Awards. And I hope you come forward and submit entries and, thereby, accept the challenge of being evaluated on where you stand. It takes tremendous courage to do so – and is a sign of maturity and self-assurance.
With Best Wishes,
